Persuasive Presentations

Class Size: 12-16 Participants

Length: 2 Days

Rationale:
Poor presenters may have great ideas, have important messages for the business but fail to be effective because they prepare and present poorly.  The purpose of this course is to help participants become effective presenters. This involves:
  • Overcoming their natural reluctance to present.
  • Discovering what they need to learn to become better.
  • Practicing presentations in a safe, non-threatening environment.

The course content is presented in lectures and instructor-led discussions; the primary learning focus is on individual and small-group exercises and videotaped practice sessions.  The presentation activities and critique from peers and instructors are the keys to the success of the course.

Attendees:
Anyone who presents, whether formal or informal, to large or small groups, one-on-one, internally or externally, will benefit from this class.

Timing:
Consider making this course available to support any major organizational initiatives that will increase the need for internal or external communication. This is a good course to support organizational change/development processes or promotion of a group of individuals to management level.

Objectives:
After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Determine the purpose(s) of a presentation.
  • Overcome physical and verbal distractions in a presentation.
  • Determine their most successful style and delivery method.
  • Organize a presentation using the “Persuasive Presentations” Model.
  • Deliver a presentation using visual aids.
  • Respond to audience questions and objections professionally.
  • Use the most appropriate techniques for overcoming anxiety.
  • Use efficient and effective practice strategies.
