Rationale:
Writing effectively means writing simply:
College Graduate: “Male members of the species Homo Sapiens, as they reach advanced age, tend to lose the faculty of recall.”
Shakespeare: “Old men forget.”
This course introduces the concepts of "Plain English." Participants learn to:
- Target their writing.
- Recognize faults in their writing.
- Edit their writing for their reader.
- Use the “Listener Vantage” model to present a message or to “sell” a message.
The course involves having a piece of their work professionally edited and then rewriting to ensure it is technically sound and effective.
Attendees:
Everyone can learn from this course. Even accomplished writers will benefit from this as a refresher course.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Target their writing.
- Describe techniques for good writing.
- Edit their own writing for effectiveness and clarity.
